Reading for adults

Good evening everyone!

Some adult students of mine asked me to suggest them some English books to read during the holidays. I really don t  know that many... And the ones I ve found are too difficult for them! Do you have any ideas? They are adults and the level is elementary.

Thank you so much :)

Maybe they could read comic books?

Hi Xana,

Manonski has a good idea because you can find some of the classics written as  graphic novels. For example, I teach The Red Badge of Courage in graphic novel form, and this has really worked well with my 10th graders. Some are published by Puffin, and you may suggest illustrated children classics, too. I would also suggest reading any children s book.

The Watchers are really cool for adults. It is in present simple. And very short mystery...
I recommend this one... There is an audio to go with...
Or if your students have PC at home, why don t you give them some links to online books?
There are hundreds of them on web...
Or try Harcourt books, A-Z books or Scott Foresmann books or even try
some MINI books - those are usually one-page books folded in a 8-paged minibook

Expert on minibooks is Alenka at eslprintables
http://www.eslprintables.com/buscador/buscar.asp?nivel=any&age=0&tipo=any&contents=minibook&B1=Search#thetop

There are about 80 minibooks at esprintables... Most of them are printer-friendly!
Most of the stories are suitable for elementary - pre-intermediate students...

Hope it helps...
