Welcome me back!! And a big thank you to Hannie!!

Okay,

so after what has seemed like a really long break, finally I am back on ESL printables!!  This summer I will be language teaching again, so I will be breaking out my ESL folder and uploading my new worksheets again!!

I m delighted to be back teaching ESL as it is so much fun!!

Can I also just say that for those of you who may not know, there is an ESL board game on the market, called Word Up.  I bought it, but havent opened it yet, so I m not sure how good it is, but it is suitable from beginners to advanced, so that has to be worth the investment, right???

Also, I would like to eventually get around to giving Hannie a huge thank you.  Earlier in the year I posted a query about where to get a chalk holder.  After much advice, I never found one.  Hannie, from Portugal, emailed me and offered to send me one.  However she could not find one, and wrote back to me to apologise.  I thought that it was very nice of her to try, and forgot about it.  A few weeks after that, I received an email from Hannie telling me that she found one eventually and had sent it to me.

I thought this was an extremely kind and generous thing to do, and when I asked Hannie what she would like in return, she said nothing!  But I think she deserves something, even if it is just a public thank you on ESL.... so here it is...

Thank you Hannie for proving me right... there are still great, kind people out there!! :)

have a good day, I look forward to sharing more contributions with you all!!

PS:  I re-read this, and only had to edit 5 times due to poor spelling!!!!!!!

I m glad you found a member willing to help you. I don t remember your post about a chalk holder because they are easy to find here and I never use mine anymore.

What s so great about this site is we usually find someone to help us no matter where they are. I m really grateful I get to learn and discover new things just by loggin in.

I have used Word Up and can highly recommend it.Thumbs Up
You can play with many levels of English and everyone learns something.
I ve changed over now to Scrabble with some groups...but Word Up was also very good for teens of a certain age.
All the best and let me know how your Word Up games go!!Smile
Fiona.

Welcome back, Sarah! Smile It seems you will be working while we re (most of us) on holiday.

It doesn t surprise me that Hannie did what she did because this place here is swarming with people like her. I believe we would do the same for her or anyone else around here. It is just amazing! Hug

Now, maybe i should not be doing this in your own thread, but I should thank Caroline565 for posting me some posters and CDs with English songs for children, as they are not that easy to find where i live. I would also like to mention your fellow countryman, Mr Denis O Leary, whom i met online and have been in contact for a while. After telling him about a very poor student from my class with a heartbreaking family history (the loss of a brother, then having another bro in a wheelchair, a sister who is a single mother to a baby, the mother emotionally wrecked after the loss of a son and recently a husband, living in a dilapidated house on minimal social welfare, YET an excellent student) he contacted me the next day telling me that he had great news - and it was 2000 euros that he raised for building a bathroom that the girl didn t have. The girl came to school smelly in smelly clothes and was because of that rejected by the others. She has a bathroom now, but I m still working on socialising her ... And i have never met the man. Now imagine the trust that he had in me by sending all that money that could have b(r)ought me a fairly nice car here ... Yep, a car. Wink

Wow, Ivona, this is such a great story you re telling here. It s a change from the whining we sometimes read on the forum.  This planet is filled with good people. Too bad the bad news take over them.
