A1+-A2 Past simple and past continuous tense for interrupted actions 2 A1+-A2 Past simple and past continuous tense for interrupted actions 2

Learning the past simple and past continuous tenses for interrupted actions is essential because they help students describe events that were happening in the past when something else occurred. The past continuous is used to show the action that was in progress at a specific time in the past, while the past simple is used to describe the action that interrupted it. This combination allows you to express a clear sequence of events, such as, "I was reading a book when the phone rang." Understanding how to use these tenses together enables you to narrate stories or describe situations more naturally and accurately. First, students need to familiarise themselves with the 2 tenses and their usage. Then they read the sentences to see which one is needed to complete the sentences in a natural way.
