I believe this is still one of the most appropriate exercises to make students learn from their mistakes and improve their grammar skills. 1st - Spotting the mistake (sentences taken from their tests); 2nd - identifying the type of mistake (Word order, Verb Tense, Spelling.....); 3rd - rewriting the sentence.
