I teach modal verbs to my students after we have done a unit on hometowns, and while we are doing a unit on crime and safety. (My school uses the North Star books, and I teach from North Star 2). Students are able to use the vocabulary they have been practicing, with the new grammar skill. My students love talking about their hometowns, and this activity made helped them speak knowledgeably and confidently while giving advice.
