ENJOY "SHOULD/SHOULDN´T"(READING+WRITING)
In teenager´s and women´s magazines there is always a consultant writer who gives advice to people in need of his/her help. In Turkey, the most famous of these is "Güzin Abla (Sister Güzin)". I put her pic on my worksheet because years ago, I got this idea of having my students using "should/ shouldn´t" in this way after I saw her corner in the newspaper, so I am grateful to her. I make up pairs of students. Each student writes a brief pharagraph of a problem of hers and then exchange it with his/her pair. And then, they write advice to solve the other´s problem using "should/shouldn´t". It has always been fun for my students to study and learn this modals with this activity. I made up "Sister Mary" and "Helpless Girl" characters just to give you and your students an idea baout the activity. You can either use this as a worksheet, or you can have a pair work acitivity or both. ýt is up to you and of course your students interests. Enjoy it :)
