Shakespearean Questionnaire Shakespearean Questionnaire

This is a FUN questionnaire to help students get their tongues around Shakespearean language. After explaining the peculiarities of Shakespearean language (2nd & 3rd person singular pronouns and verb forms), have the students work in pairs interviewing each other. Explain to students that the questions tagged with the female symbol should be asked ONLY if their partner is female. Likewise, the questions tagged with the male symbol are to be asked ONLY if their partner is male. Explain any vocabulary the students might need. The font Zeal is necessary to see the male and female symbols! The title of the worksheet is the font Boulevard, but this can be changed. I used Garamond for the text, but you can adjust the font and size so that both worksheets A & B fit onto one A4 page. On page 2 are some extra questions in case you want to change the ones I’ve selected for the questionnaire. Obviously, many of these questions are NOT politically correct, but they were chosen to reflect common themes and social situations during Shakespeare’s time. I have used this with young adults several times, and they laughed the whole time they were speaking. This is a lot of fun, but very useful before reading Shakespeare or watching a film adaptation. Send me a personal message if you would like a .pdf version with all the fonts intact.). Many thanks to my colleagues who suggested many of the questions, especially Artie Raghavan, who suggested at least a dozen.
