Have You Ever...? MAD LIBS
This is the warm-up activity for a lesson on using "Have you ever + the past participle". In this lesson, tell students that you have a story about your vacation. However, your story is missing words. You need the students to help you complete the story.
My classes usually have about 40 students, so I ask them for words in groups of 4. I ask the first 4 students to tell me a place (the location for the vacation). Any place is okay (a city, theme park, country, store, etc.). I write their word on the board and continue. The next 4 students tell me an adjective, and the process repeats until all 10 words/phrases are on the board.
Finally, I read the story which we wrote together. It´s usually quite funny! Students laugh at eating baseballs and about the weather being cute. They find it hilarius when the souvenir ends up being a person or when the price is far too cheap or too expensive.
This transitions nicely into the lesson. Remind students that the story started with "Have you ever visited _____?" Write "Have you ever...?" on the board and use #1 on the worksheet as an example.
