not keen on grammar and vocab teaching - prefer language acquisition eg stories. i suppose i should not have joined "printables" as i like activity rather than written language. very good site and the simple policy discourages lazy/overworked teachers who, sadly, take activities from the net without always considering their validity.

a dogs life in vietnam
worked very well with vietnamese students - you could adapt a couple of items - eg your students would not know "thit cho" = dog meat.

Close Shave
the vocabulary exercises may be omitted at your discretion - the activity works alone and the dictionary/lexical exercise depends on having "serious students" as your clients.

gruffalo part one
using stories as a base. i use books [i bought them; some royalties paid!] you need mime and, preferably, some way to transpose to wide-screen but i managed without. i hope the answers are self-evident. the margins are customised to fit it on one sheet but it prints fine - in fact, i printed on "draft" and it was successf...

gruffalo part three
students are probably unfamiliar with "jumbled" [there is a programme somewhere that jumbles words or sentences if you write the text - anyone know how to get hold of it?] - that is why I have given the clues/markers. even so we may need to check that they know how to do the activity. my YL have the story coming out of their ears by now so they sh...

Oh Boy!
can be used beyond elementary [less prompts more thinking ie students can anticipate] i made this for vietnamese students - you can easily make a couple of changes to suit yours. song is simple, lively, 3 chord pop song - eg: A A all my love all my kissing A A7 you dont know what youve been missing D D A A oh...

The Three Bears
I had to use present simple as on my "test run" I had narrative tense [obviously more appropriate] and my very elementary students had difficulty dealing with it.

wallace and gromit
It is, of course, impossible to do this without "A Matter of Loaf and Death". It needs some pre-teaching unless your students are "real intermediate;" my 13-14 y.o. students are quite good but they needed some help.
