Portugal

Hi

This is my hometown. I am from Figueira da Foz a small beautiful town by the sea on the Atlantic coast (Portugal).

But unfortunately it is not where I work. I work 125 km from my home and I only go there at weekends. I live with my son (17 years old) and my daughter (13 years old) and being so, they study in the same school where I work.
My hometown lives on tourism but mainly during the months of June, July and August, that s when we have really good weather in Portugal.
It has the oldest casino from Portugal and Spain and people can enjoy the sea, the river (Mondego River) and the mountains.
Many people come here to surf all year round.

Best wishes from Portugal

Hi everyone!

I m Mendi from Kansas and Missouri, USA.  I live in a suburb of Kansas City in Missouri, but I teach in the heart of Kansas City in Kansas.  We moved to Missouri to be close to my husband s job.  It s about a 30-minute drive to my school, but I wouldn t teach anywhere else.  My students are mostly Spanish-speaking immigrants whose families are very poor.  Their parents work so hard to put food on the table, that they often don t have any time left over to help their children with their homework.  The kids who live in the burbs don t appreciate the hard work of their teachers and classmates, so I will stay where I am, thank you very much.  Kansas City, Missouri, is known as the "City of Fountains", but those are in the shopping district for the tourists.  Yes, we have tourists here!  Smile  Kansas City, Kansas, is becoming known for good schools.  Yea!

My husband recently became a librarian, and our son, Xander, is almost finished with Kindergarten.  We have had a trying year with him being diagnosed with ADHD and being gifted and are looking forward to a much smoother year in first grade. *Phew!*

I have been teaching for 10 years as a first grade teacher, a Reading teacher, and now an ESL teacher.  I must share my excitement at my very first summer off since I was 16 years old.  (I m 35 now-ugh)  My son and I will be spending time at the zoo, camping, swimming, and cleaning our house.  I don t know if we will survive or not! Clown

Iim from Avils, a small town in the north of Spain. My region is called "Principado de Asturias" and the capital city is Oviedo. If you like motor racing that s the city where Fernando Alonso was born.
My town has got very nice old streets and some beautiful monuments. There used to be a lot of industries here so it s quite polluted. Now they are buiding a nice museum called the Niemeyer Centre , a modern building near the harbour.
Although it isn t a big town we ve got many facilitiies. It s near some beautiful beaches where Ilove going. I adore the sea!! The weather is Ok.It is not very cold in winter  although it rains a lot and warm in summer.

In my free time I like watching films, reading, listening to all kind of music and meeting my friends.

hmmm miss Veronica visiting....  guest room...  Well the schools usually only give me an one bedroom apartment, and not totally certain where I will be in the near future.  But if I am anywhere you want to visit I will give good recommendations for housing or even talk to the school about a guest teacher guest room... Big smile

I usually find the live music, art museums, and historical sites pretty quick when I move so I can show those...

And can recommend what ghetto housing in the states not to stay at.  Even though some residents are great to hang out with.  Especially in the where there are large immigrant populations and artists.

If you go to Florida visit downtown St Petersburg, several small art museums, the Dali Museum, and small concert venues.  There is also a baseball team.  If it is during the summer near the pier they have Shakesphear in the Park.

Giselle del Val
Argentina

My name is Giselle and Im 24 years old. I was born and I live in Buenos Aires, the capital city. Its a huge place full of everything you can image. Sometimes I hate going to the downtown ( you know traffic jams and crowded buses) but I really love this place. Fortunately I have visited many countries and travelling is something I really enjoy.

I graduated two years ago and I work with adults (in a company), children and adolescents in a school and I also own my Language Center.

Thanks for sharing all this information!! Big smile
