shopping for nutritional choices
This worksheet informs the student about nutritional choices in Canada. Many of my students are confused about the food available and are often shocked that what they thought was a healthy choice was actually considered "junk food" to Canadians. Very useful for discussions concerning a healthy diet.

advice in conversation class
This works well when you instruct the students to use the modals - should, would, could, must, have to, never, will be etc. Let the conversation "flow" in a relaxing atmosphere. Explain the "idioms" if needed.

saying yes or no the correct way
Newcomers need to understand that it is alright to say no to anything that is offered them. Some of my students thought it rude that everything wasnt placed in front of them so that they could eat what they wanted...When saying accepting or declining anything you only need to be polite.

How to keep people talking
This is a great pair worksheet. Have the students ask each other the questions. You will find that their answers are a bit more candid while speaking to their peers. Some of these questions are hard...it will make them think. Have fun!
