If you don�t understand what Aussies are saying they may be speaking in Aussie slang. Students can read the story, match the vocab with meaning, answer questions, and rewrite in normal English. It is very challenging for them. Use the Aussie slang dictionary online to enhance understanding.

My family
I find sharing personal stories with my students work. This one works very well. Students read the text, answer questions, They then complete the cloze without looking.
