Pronunciation Journey with Animals
This activity is adapted from Pronunciation Journeys in Pronunciation Games. It can be used for any level and basically any age. I substituted animals for cities to make it more kid friendly. Use this when distinguishing between two similar sounds or minimal pairs (e.g. /i/ vs /i:/ or /s/ vs /z/ ) Tell Ss to go left for one sound and right for anot...

Two worksheets about emotions/feelings for strong elementary and up. First is just matching the picture with the emotion. This exercise would ideally take place over 2 classes. The first one more focused on reading and the second more on writing. I designed it for my coworkers doing public health research, which explains why it might be a little dry/scientific sounding and also explains the downer of a topic. (Malnutrition, yay!) Anyway, its good for academic writing...

Think of a word game
A fun game you can play with almost any level (maybe not true beginners). In teams, students must think of the correct vocabulary to fill in their cards. They compete to come up with different words and to do so in the fastest time. Full instructions are given in the worksheet. This game has never failed me! Good for a warmer activity or to li...

"Going to" Activity - Why have you got...
A fun activity for elementary and above, pretty much all ages. It involves getting students to discuss future plans as they must describe what they are going to do with the object on their cards. They answer the question: "Why have you got a ___ in your bag?" -- Because Im going to... It can be adapted for other tenses as well. Its really fun...

First Conditional gap fill and sentence match
A gap fill and sentence matching exercise. For the sentence matching, you just cut out the sentence halves and the students work alone or in pairs to match the halves together to form complete sentences. Another idea is to give each student one half of a sentence and they have to find the student in the class with the other half.
