Thanks  a lot.You re right. A week as a break seems too long to be so. But let s wait for others especialy natives.

Why do you laugh at Mabdel? This forum is for asking questions, isnt it?? Theres no need to take the mickey out of someone who is seeking for help! You re not very polite, I must say...

Dear Mabdel, I admire you for being such a calm and patient person!! Thumbs Up

In German, we can say that we take a break for a week! However, I must admit that I m not 100% sure whether we can say the same in English.

Sorry for not having been able to help you this time...

Sounds good! Actually, I thought of the same expression as Aimes suggestion, but wasn t absolutely certain about it. I think shes right.

Dear Mabdel,

We can say" a week vacation/holiday" but Is it correct to say " a week break"

In the UK, it is not usual to use the word vacation, (in my opinion).  We usually say:

"I am taking a day s holiday!"  "I am taking a week s holiday!"  "I am taking a month s holiday!"

This means: "A holiday OF A DAY!"; "A holiday OF A WEEK!"; "A holiday OF A MONTH".

Yes!  We can also say:
"I am taking a week s break!"  ("I am having a break from my work!")

I hope that this helps.

Idthemagicman : Yes!  We can also say:
"I am taking a week s break!"  ("I am having a break from my work!")

What about "a week off" then if you mean out of work?

Hi Mabdel
In the US- at least in New York, where I m from  we do take a week s break. Jolly Jumper s suggestion a week off is also good.
