Hi everybody! It is correct?

Hi everybody! It is correct?
Hi everybody! which one  is correct?
I clean my teeth three times a day.       or
I clean my teeth thrice a day .       And tell me why?

United Kingdom

Three times.  Thrice is old fashioned, not used these days.

That īs exactly the same reply I was about to post!

didn īt know "Thrice" existed!

It īs good to know :)

Thrice is very old fashioned indeed. Can be found in Lewis Carroll īs The Hunting of the Snark for instance :

“Just the place for a Snark!” the Bellman cried,

 As he landed his crew with care;

Supporting each man on the top of the tide

By a finger entwined in his hair.

“Just the place for a Snark! I have said it twice:

That alone should encourage the crew.

Just the place for a Snark! I have said it thrice:

What I tell you three times is true.”

Dear Fofmu, Then how about "twice a day"? Is it also old fasioned? You recommend to use "two times" instead of "twice"?  Reply now.

thrice, three times, both are correct.

Once , twice , three times , four times, five times , etc  are commonly used .

See the Lionel Richie īs song :

You īre once , twice
Three times a lady
And I love you
Yes you īre once, twice
Three times a lady
And I love you
I love you

Yep, thrice is not commonly used. But I īm commenting because I noticed Liligirl used as an example an old song, and that made me think about a crazy habit I have: sometimes I sing part of a song as an example of the use of some words or even grammar topics.

I īm not a great singer, you know, as a singer I īm a good teacher. My students laugh when I do that, but they never forget.

Do you have the same strange habit?

Have a nice day!
