Hi everybody! It is correct?

Hi everybody! which one  is correct?
I clean my teeth three times a day.       or
I clean my teeth thrice a day .       And tell me why?

Three times.  Thrice is old fashioned, not used these days.

Thrice is very old fashioned indeed. Can be found in Lewis Carroll s The Hunting of the Snark for instance :

Just the place for a Snark! the Bellman cried,

 As he landed his crew with care;

Supporting each man on the top of the tide

By a finger entwined in his hair.

Just the place for a Snark! I have said it twice:

That alone should encourage the crew.

Just the place for a Snark! I have said it thrice:

What I tell you three times is true.

Dear Fofmu, Then how about "twice a day"? Is it also old fasioned? You recommend to use "two times" instead of "twice"?  Reply now.

Once , twice , three times , four times, five times , etc  are commonly used .

See the Lionel Richie s song :

You re once , twice
Three times a lady
And I love you
Yes you re once, twice
Three times a lady
And I love you
I love you

Yep, thrice is not commonly used. But I m commenting because I noticed Liligirl used as an example an old song, and that made me think about a crazy habit I have: sometimes I sing part of a song as an example of the use of some words or even grammar topics.

I m not a great singer, you know, as a singer I m a good teacher. My students laugh when I do that, but they never forget.

Do you have the same strange habit?

Have a nice day!

Zailda
