Planet Earth Series Cloze Exercise worksheet

This goes with the BBC series, "Planet Earth". Buy the DVD box set, it´s WORTH IT!! I use it first as a cloze exercise. DON´T hand out the word list, yet!!! Depending on the level, you can leave subtitles on/off. Then I hand out the word list and have students try to get the meaning from the context (both written and on the screen). Then we play it again and talk about the words. I usually stress the genus/differentia method of defining words. Chinese students have no vocabulary at all when it comes to earth science so it´s fairly interesting. The rest of the series is in process.
