Extensive reading
This is, by far ,what I consider to be one of the best activities I´ve carried out through my carreer of teaching. The main reason behind that is probably the fact that I´ve read the story -the target text here-when I was still a student.Its impact on me at that age was so strong that I kept reading it throughout the years that followed .On the surface ,it is a simple narrative story but the variety of ways it can be exploited is limitless.Besides this your students will be so thrilled and curious to read till the end-a thing our students rarely do.The simplified style of the narrative makes it feasible even with mixed ability classes.I’ve suggested some tasks for it but I believe you’ll discover you can easily design your own.

NB.I know extensive reading tasks have to be skimming tasks but you can always follow your common sense.
