Letīs go shopping (for clothes/ footwear) - a 90-minute class
I used this worksheet yesterday with my younger students(7th graders - 3rd year of English - A2 level)in my 90-minute class of the "Shopping" task. 2 PAGES. KEY INCLUDED. Students expand their vocabulary putting the words in the green bubble under the right heading - clothes, footwear, accessories, denim and sportswear (the basic vocabulary was reviewed in the previous class with the videoclip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhkpNe56FXs). Then they do a matching exercise between the language functions common at at a shop and the phrases (They can first listen to a dialogue in a shop. If you want the audiofiles just send me your email and Iīll send you the one I used.)They complete sentences with the given phrases/expressions after looking at the pictures and then they listen to a wonderful dialogue (site given in the worksheet - esl-lab - I can also send it to you) and identify the conversation fillers (hmm, oh, huh, well, yeah...). We often forget to teach "fillers", but they are really important to keep a conversation going. Students then do a small roleplay with their partners using the fillers and, finally, they evaluate their performance as listeners. This was an extremely dynamic lesson. I loved it and so did my students. We were all tired at the end, though.;)) Have a wonderful weekend. Hugs, mena.
