Present continous(introduction through a song)
I used these sheets and tasks to introduce the present continous in my classes.
1) The kids watched the video (link on the complete lyrics page)
2) The kids got the sentence cards and every time the heard their sentence while watching the video, they had to hold their card up into the air. Put the cards onto the board afterwards and introduce the formation of present progressive.
3) When watching the video the 3rd time the kids had to complete the lyrics page. --> compare
4) Hand out the small cards (present simple and present progressive) - one for each child. Now the kids with the present tense cards stand on the one side of the classroom and the ones with the present progressive cards on the other side. One kid reads out his/her sentence in present simple and the student with the present progressive sentence has to answer. When a pair is formed, these kids may sit down again.
