Working with words - How to use a dictionary Working with words - How to use a dictionary

This is a worksheet designed to help students work with a monolingual dictionary. It lists the most typical five different characteristics given in a dictionary entry for a word. Students should become aware of what they have to expect to find when looking up a word, but also how to deal with the information provided. In addition to a theoretical input, they are challenged to practise their word-finding skills in task 1. In a 2nd task they are asked to write and hold a short speech using their aquired newly acquired skills. Both tasks are based on the short story "A pair of Jeans" by Q. Sharaz. So make sure you´ve read this short story in advance.
