Confusing Telephone Messages
Pre-teach linking, elision and perhaps a session on homophones and oronyms before the activity. Print out the cards, laminate and cut out. The second of my quizzes for students that speak Romance languages. Some false friends and some cognates as well as some of the more mundane but not so well-known words in common usage. Divide students into small teams and award each team a point for the right answer. Answer key provided. Have fun!

Time Battleships
Played the same as battleships only with days and times. Get the students to write 4 words in the boxes. Words should be no longer than 7 letters. They then take it in turns to hit each others battleships by asking where the letters are. A hit always gets another go.
