All You Need Is Love (CLOZE) - The Beatles

Play the ever popular (and quite easy ESL listening activity) "All You Need is Love" by The Beatles. Great compliment to peace, love, relationships, family or even Valentines Day themes.

            Fortune Telling Slips

Students LOVED this adjunct to my Lunar New Years class in which they each walk away with a fortune both good and bad. Each students writes and then draws out of a crystal ball their fortune. The students were literally rolling on the ground laughing when a boy pulled out "You will have many boyfriends, but you will not be handsome."

            Free Writing to Music

Open your students creativity and get them away from the rigidity of textbooks. Play a unique song and have students write down either a story about what they feel is happening - OR - just words that come to mind when they listen/feel the music. There are some questions at the top of the page to get them started, and I usually call out some additi...

Movie Madness: Create Your Own Movie!

Instead of watching a movie, I had students create their own. They give it a name, describe the main characters, and introduce the plot (what will happen?). They can then draw a movie poster to advertise it. This was a fabulous activity for my middle school ESL students! Enjoy.

Make Your Own COMIC BOOK Strip!

Students write their own 6-panel comic book strip! I started the class with discussions of their favourite comics, heros, villains, and what actions/things they did that made the books interesting. They were SO creative when it came to making their own comics, they couldnt stop at one page.. Part 3, etc. I had them make sure they choose one tense ...
