English Icons - get your sts to explore!!!
Have you ever had a group of sts who could do so much, but were too lazy to do anything about it and just wanted everything done for them, without even opening a dictionary? I had them last year, at the FCE preparatory course, and I decided Id had enough. So I devised this project for them to explore, look for info alone, in pairs, in groups. Some...

ADVANCED VOCABULARY WORKSHOP
This is a 2-page worksheet and word cards (along with suggested activities for teachers on writing, playing and word-formation). I would use this with my FCE and CAE students, or any very advanced group, because it is aimed specifically at expanding vocabulary (adjective+noun, collocations)by using the language, reading it in unfinished sentences a...

WHAT WOMEN WANT - FOLLOW-UP
Yes, what do women want??? Well, if you have telepathic powers, like Mel Gibson had in this charming, romantic, old-fashioned movie, then you know. I did the movie with my adult and highschool groups for Valentines Day and they absolutely loved it. Lots of funny situations, good language, no violence or obscenity, just men-women relationships. The...

St. Patricks Day
Here are only some of my St. Patricks Days favourite activities - a crossword, a song, a text about Ireland and a story about a leprechaun and a greedy lady. The story is really educational and Ive used it with all my levels - with preschoolers I added mime and sounds and a song afterwards, with intermediates I had a jumbled text to sort out, an...

CRIME VOCABULARY
This is a fill-in (with list of words provided) on court and crime vocabulary. I found it very useful while doing the crime units, and after doing the ws, we played word games with the given vocabulary and I had pairs of students write crime stories using the list of given words. It was very useful and fun, especially the follow-up story writing.

JUDGING BY APPEARANCES - advanced/intermediate ws
This is a wonderful inspirational text which was posted not long ago in our ESL cafe by Lucia13.
