the Tudors
a webquest about the Tudor kings and queens.

They liked it and were allowed to play the games on the BBC website and d...

membership cards
The pupils are asked a series of questions to get a membership card for the English class. If they answer the questions correctly and the teacher can fill in the card, they get their membership card.
(just as if they had to answer questions in a shop while the assistant filled in her records on her computer)

reading comprehension about a musical school
a document I found in vocable and I prepared the questions. It starts with a discovery of the document then the pupils are asked to go a bit further in their understanding (and to get methods in doing so). Finally, there are 2 exercises to check they have understood.
At some point, I give some vocabulary and its in French.

How long ago did it happen ?
i use this as a transparency. First, the pupils need to guess what the picture is about using the simple past, then they need to ask a question using "how long ago..." and guess an answer. I usually divide them into groups so they have a small competition to be the closest to the correct answer. Then, we check the answer.
