Learning about The Beatles
My university students here in China love American music but many of them have never heard of the Beatles. My classes have 30 to 32 students so I decided to select 16 Beatles songs and pair my students to each song. I like to do my pairing randomly so I cut the song title into two parts, have my students line up and leave the room, giving them a pa...

Three Sheep Songs
Easter season is a good time to teach these three nursery rhymes: Baa Baa Black Sheep, Little Bo Peep, and Mary Had a Little Lamb. There are lots of videos of these songs on Youtube or Youkou (China) and the kids love to sing them. I used this worksheet as a summary review close activity. Good vocabulary building and verb tense practice.

COVID-19 Dialogue
I love to make dialogues for my students so they can practice conversational English. I use the text as a basis for the script and have students alternate. Since my classes are very small, this works well. In a large class, I would divide the students into groups and have them do the dialogues.

Summer Olympic Word Search
I made this word search (Discovery Education) in preparation for the Summer Olympics (which I hope will take place). Notice that the puzzle uses lower case. I found that my Chinese students always "translated" the upper case word bank into lower case so I changed the puzzle to start with. Also, I used football instead of soccer; I put some two word...

Little Flap Learns To Fly
I dont know how many teachers/schools use the McGraw-Hill Wonders Series but I thought I would submit these supplemental materials (which can stand on their own). I like turning the Wonders stories into dialogues to give students a flavor of real conversation. I change some words and add slang and other expressions. This story is from Book G2-U1. ...
