Past Simple through the Song
An old but still nice song to revise Past Simple. If you play the guitar, you may bring it and sing instead of listening to the song on a disc. First I ask students to try and guess the missing words just from the worksheet. My students liked it very much.

Describing appearance. Stereotypes.
This activity is not really mine, our university teacher conducted something similar many years ago. I just simplified the activity and adapted it for my school students. After we learn the appropriate vocabulary, I divide the class into 2 (or more) groups and give them one of the pages with the task. While discussing and writing they arenīt allowe...

Everything is poetry
We had this activity while learning "Introduction to poetry" by Billy Collins. Actually, it can be used at any literature lesson, because the aim of activity is to expand studentsī borders in understanding poetry, I wanted them to realize that poetry is not really a weird hobby, and everybody can find something in a poem to identify with. Before d...

"INFORMATION PLEASE" be Paul Villard
Some time ago I accidentally ran into the text on the Internet, liked it and decided to make a lesson based on it. So, here it is. "I just sued the school system"
I use this to start a year with my smart junior-high and high school students. First we discuss the pictures and relate them to our life in general and then to the educational system. Students DO have what to say on the issue. :) Then I show them the video WITHOUT a text and without subtitles. Then they get a paper (one per table) to com...

She went to sleep and woke up 30 years later
The text is not mine, I found it somewhere in the Net many years ago, simplified it, modified the post-reading questions, added mine together with competitive group activity which my high school students like.

Punctuation, Valentineīs Day
I found this letter accidentally on the Internet and decided to use it as a class activity with junior high and high school students. Students are divided into small groups and are given the same text: first to make it a letter of love, then to make it a letter of separation with the help of punctua...
