Picture-based discussion: should the burka be banned in public places?
My students have to reflect on each picture - what point is each making? - make notes and then I give them a card with �for� or �against.� They have to give a presentation putting forward that point of view. Lively topic! By the way, it can be spelt �burka� or �burqa�.

Mona Lisa vs Medusa
Making comparisons/ drawing analogies is a great way to teach EAL. This made a great lesson and so I continued with more comparisons: Harry Potter vs Gandalf, Batman vs Jack Sparrow etc. Great fun, great for language development.
