Follow the instructions (prepositions practice)
The students must follow the instructions to complete the rooms. Then, I get them to compare their finished pictures with a partner and discuss any differences. Next they are given any three of the diagrams and they write descriptions. I got the pictures from clker.com apart from the last one; dont know where thats from.

Spot the Differences
A great picture! Key included. First, I ask them to circle the differences, before doing the exercises. Finally, I leave them with just the pictures and ask them to write out the differences in full sentences. Any complete beginners can list 15 words to do with the pictures.

Picture-based discussion: should the burka be banned in public places?
My students have to reflect on each picture - what point is each making? - make notes and then I give them a card with for or against. They have to give a presentation putting forward that point of view. Lively topic! By the way, it can be spelt burka or burqa.
