HI! I live and teach in Beijing, China. Most of my students are adults.(But also kids) I´ve designed a series of Business English lessons for use in Beijing, but they are easily adapted to any nationality. I´m a teacher on a budget, so I´m always looking for creative ways to use free resources. Celta, 2012.

This is the latest in my Business English series. This is Lesson 2 of 2 of the unit "Customer Service and Product Quality Surveys". The first half of this unit (Lesson 1 of 2) was over the size limit to be submitted as a printable, so I had to upload it as a PPT. (Link here: http://www.eslprintables.com/powerpoint.asp?id=89964#thetop ) Many thanks ...

ADVANCED BUSINESS ENGLISH - WHAT MAKES AN EFFECTIVE LEADER (LEADERSHIP)
This is the next in my Business English series -- Because of the structure of the project I´m creating this for, this is in the form of 2 lesson plans that make up a 2-part unit. There´s homework between the first and second lessons, but this is certainly optional and easily omitted with little to no impact on the class. The activities here will ea...

PICK-A-CARD SENTENCE BUILDING GAME
I am always struggling to find things for my lowest level students. I saw another teacher I work with do sentence building in a one-on-one class, and I expanded it to make it uniform, add the element of chance with the cards, and turn it into a team activity. I used it a couple of nights ago with some of my most challenging students, and I was very...

ADJECTIVES -- WHAT DO THEY HAVE IN COMMON??
In this game, a student draws a random card with an adjective on it. The student must then list items that this adjective describes. The first student in the group to guess the adjective gets a poker chip. The student with the most poker chips in the end wins. This works GREAT with mid to high intermediate students. I HAD originally tried this wit...

LESSON & ACTIVITY PLANNING OVERVIEW/SEMINAR - PART 1 OF 2
I was recently invited to give a 3-hour summary/overview seminar on activity/lesson planning to a group of newly minted ESL teachers. I was asked to fill 3 hours of time, including practice time. The end result is the attached lesson plan with handouts. I´m not sure if anybody can use this -- maybe some of you are supervisors who occasionally need ...

VOCABULARY IN CONTEXT -- WEATHER -- TORNADOES -- PART 1 OF 2
I don´t know about other countries, but in China we foreign teachers are forevermore tasked with "English Corner" -- it tends to be an hour-long dog & pony show about pretty much anything we choose. I often use mine to teach vocabulary in context and to do cultural exchange. This PPT is about t...

WEATHER, SEASONS, TIMES OF DAY, TEMPERATURES - PART 5 OF 5
First, let me apologize for there being 5 parts to this. Once again, the file limits have bitten me in the backside! This lesson is a format I´ve been using for about 4 yrs, and it has always worked well for me. I usually just do it on the board, but decided to put it into a ppt for larger classes. ...

WELCOME TO BURNING MAN -- TEACHING VOCAB VIA CONTEXT - PART 2 OF 6
First, let me apologize for there being SO many separate ppts. The file limits are harsh sometimes. Towards the end, I divided ...

MYTHS ABOUT AMERICANS - CULTURE AND VOCAB IN CONTEXT
I´ve taught ESL only 2 places -- USA & China. (this can be used elsewhere) Here in China, there is a *massive* amount of crazy stuff Chinese people believe to be absolute fact about Americans. There´s so much consistency to it, in fact, that I put together this ppt to try to figure out why. Turns o...
