Ginny the Little Green Mouse
A little fable. I work out morals with my students. By the way - the snake eats the mice - you can always change this to ´the snake chases the mice away´, but I think kids are OK with snakes eating mice. They accept the world! The template is from here.

Beautiful Alice
A short passage with activities, including ´true or false´ on page 2. The language focus is repeated action in the past (used to/would). Mam is northern English for mum and a pit is a coal mine.

The Supporting Act
This is a short clip by the BBC, which they will play between programmes till Christmas, when they will add to it... It is 2:01 minutes long and quite touching. No dialogue, so great for teaching English. Good practice for both present tenses. I would give each student 3 or 4 questions to answer, or else, several viewings! Key included.

A short play/skit:
This is a very short ´play´ for teenage beginners. If you have a more advanced student, they could read the part of the teacher. It´s based on getting answers mixed up so that they are funny. You could get your class to use this as a basis and come up with something similar. About 16 parts, but this could be changed.

The Ghost of Cranston House
This is a short story with a twist in the tale, based on five images. There are exercises and discussion points. First, I ask the students to mind map the images and think about what the story might be about. Good for teaching ´should´.

Joke match-up exercise
Just a bit of fun! The students have to match up the opening part and the punch line of the jokes. These are ´groan´ jokes, a bit corny! I include a key and explanations.
