A short skit
This is a very short play for teenage beginners. If you have a more advanced student, they could read the part of the teacher. Its based on getting answers mixed up so that they are funny. You could get your class to use this as a basis and come up with something similar. About 16 parts, but this could be changed.

Scary picture!
They do the straightforward True or false activity, then.... either get them to use the prompt box and write sentences themselves, or, using the exercise on page 2, provide there is or there are. This picture was printed in a national newspaper, with no copyright mark, so it should be OK for us to use in an educational sense.

Picnic Scene
Great picture with some reading and exercises. Some past simple and some present continuous practice. Its a Ravensburger picture, I have permission to use it from Steve at [email protected]. With advanced students, you could explore the symbolism in it.

An urban legend: the tale of the missing bride.
A reading comp. I have omitted 12 verbs, just to make them think, but not spoil the flow of the reading. Then they complete the exercises. When they know the story reasonably well, they could do a role play/hotseat activity. I have included two hotseat cards, plus the key to the missing words, in the order they appear.

RC: thats not fair! Or is it?
This is a reading comprehension, which discusses the content of a newspaper article. The claims made by the newspaper - that only in English is there a word for fair - is a contentious one. Key included. Link to original article included.
